    The Analysis Of Lexicogramatical Features Among English Second Learner's Texts

    This research has found that the pattern of ranks employed across the level of texts reveal a gradual development; from simple to complex. Namely, in the level of morphology, it shows that the texts develop from limited into varieduse of derivational and inflectional morphemes. This is in line with clause level of analysis in which we find its significant progress from simple clause to clause complex. Furthermore, the analysis of written language in term ofgrammatical function is one of Systematic Functional Grammar (SFG) contribution in language education. It can be a tool used by teachersand educators in assessingstudents' language competences, especially in regard with students' syntactic control over language. It can be expected to be an application of assessment that can provide a fundamental overview on how the assessed texts progress and develop. Meanwhile, another implication to language teaching is that it can provide an important view that teachers can rely on when deciding what level of topic leaningsthat suit their students

    A Comparative Study On Anglo And Non-anglo Academic Discourse

    This article showed that Anglo dialogic academic discourse cannot be separated from several aspects such as linear, more personal, writer responsible and focus on form. This writing convention isunderpinned by cultural tradition. Anglo community is influenced by democratic thought pattern belong to Socrates, who stressed the writing as a medium of negotiating meaning and creating knowledge and truth.. Meanwhile, the monologic discourse is found to be produced in non-Anglo communities which have no long democracy tradition. This academic discourse is characterized by impersonal tone, digressiveness, reader responsible and focus on content.. It encourages writer to use writing as a medium of showing knowledge, in which reader do not necessarily need to be guided in explicit and direct way, and assuming that they are intelligent human whom there is nothing much to be directed, guided and explained

    Kekuatan Tarik Serat Ijuk (Arenga Pinnata Merr)

    Serat ijuk merupakan serat alami yang ketersediaannya berlimpah, tetapi belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal. Serat ijuk dapat digunakan sebagai penguat alternatif untuk bahan komposit. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kekuatan tarik dan morphologi serat ijuk melalui hasil pengamatan photo Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM).Pengekstrakan serat ijuk dilakukan dengan menggunakan sisir kawat yang berfungsi untuk memisahkan serat ijuk dengan pelepahnya. Dalam penelitian ini, serat ijuk yang dipilih yaitu berdiameter 0.25- 0.35mm, 0.36-0.45mm, dan 0.46-0.55 mm. Selanjutnya dilakukan perendaman C selama 15 menit. Setelah itu dila kukan pengujian tarik dengan standar ASTM D 3379-75.Hasil dari penelitian didapatkan bahwa semakin kecil diameter serat, maka kekuatan tariknya semakin tinggi. Kekuatan tarik terbesar pada kelompok serat ijuk berdiameter kecil (0.25-0.35 mm) adalah sebesar 208.22 MPa, regangan 0.192%, modulus elastisitas 5.37GPa dibandingkan kelompok serat ijuk dengan diameter besar (0.46-0.55 mm) sebesar 198.15 MPa, regangan 0.37%, modulus elastisitas 2.84 GPa. Hal ini dikarenakan rongga pada serat berdiameter 0.46-0.55 mm lebih besar dibandingkan serat berdiameter 0.25-0.35 mm menggunakan larutan alkali yaitu NaOH 5% selama 2 jam., kemudian di oven dengan suhu 8

    Geological Aspect of Slope Failure and Mitigation Approach in Bireun - Takengon Main Road, Aceh Province, Indonesia

    A soil and rock slope assessment survey was conducted along Bireun – Takengon main road in Aceh Province, Indonesia. The slope assessment survey was carried out to determine the geological condition, verify and identify the potential areas of slope failure and to study what type of slope stability and protection method could be applied to the road. Several research methodologies were conducted in the field such as rock and soil identification, and slope assessment. The survey was conducted in four selected areas along Bireun – Takengon main road. In study area I, soil creep occurred because of a presence of montmorillonite clay. The mitigation methods to reduce soil creeping in this area are building a retaining wall and pile. The shotcrete, wire mesh, net rock bolting, and rock removal method is suitable to apply in study area II. The shotcrete and soil nails were used because the type of rocks in those areas is sedimentary rock such as shale, sandstone, siltstone, and a boulder of a volcanic rock. The same approach shall be applied in study area IV. study area III was the best spot to learn about the mitigation approach for slope stability and provides many lessons learned. Aceh Province experience active tectonic movement, high intensity of rain, geological structures, a high degree of weathering, and high intensity of earthquake,as primary factors which trigger landslides. The techonology of slope stabilizing and protection methods can be applied to mitigate landslides
